Highlighting and Contouring has been a major beauty trend over the past couple of years. It has always been around and has always been in the industry, but we have celebrity makeup artist and major beauty gurus that helped blow up this trend. When we think of highlight and contour we all automatically think Anastasia Beverly Hills! They have come out with major super affordable pallets of great makeup quality. I have to give it to them before they ventured into other categories of the beauty industry they were only known as the “Goddest of Brows”. I have not been able to get my hands on the latest pallet, but do have few to work with.

 

“GLOW KIT”

I love this pallet because it gives you that sun kiss summer glow all year long. I feel this one is more suited for someone who has been highlighting for a while. This pallet sparkles a lot . It maybe a little bit to chalky and glittery for a bigger , but over all I LOVE it. You can apply this on your body for a glow.

I personally love this pallet and would aim for a bigger to start using because the colors are so soft . I love how they just sit well on the skin without them being to much or to little.Remember it’s all up to you how much you pick up.

Sun Dipped

Ok so Sun Dipped is one of my favorites because it has more of a bronze contour effect. Great for a biggenir and offers a variety of different shades to create different looks. Remember like I mention above it all depends on how much you decide to pick up.

Finally the brush to get for all this wonderful highlight is Anastasia Beverly Hills A23 brush. This brush picks up the right amount and is small enough to reach creases and areas where you only want to apply the high light without feeling like you dipped your whole face .

My Splurge and Spend Setting Spray

So if you have not been introduce to the world of setting sprays let me tell you …… You have been missing out. I love setting sprays because it sets your makeup by giving it a finish look and by helping it last longer. When it comes to setting sprays there are affordable options,  but splurging will not hurt. There are a variety of sprays in the market and it is hard to pick one because there are so many options.

What is a setting spray and why is it important? A setting spray is a light weight mist to prevent makeup to meltdown because it controls oil, reduces shine on the surface of the skin and helps keep your makeup by looking matte and flawless. Have you ever notice that when you do your makeup a couple of minutes later the makeup is eaten up on oily areas of the skin? Many setting sprays have high tech ingredients that prevent and control eyeshadow, foundation ,blush from running, fading, and smudging. Using a good setting spray will prevent you from touching up.

I personally love this setting spray because it refreshes my face, but $90 is a big splurge so spraying just a bit goes a long way. This spray is light weight that hydrates, freshens, cools, and comforts skin. It strengthens and sustains skin to its optimal state. This can be used under makeup or over makeup to freshen up your look.

Urban Decay All Nighter Long lasting Setting Spray $31 urbandecay.com

Urban Decay has a lot of setting sprays to pick from , but my favorite is the original All Nighter setting spray. This setting spray has never failed me because it helps your makeup last up to 16 hrs without it melting away.

Smash Box Photo Finish Primer Water $32 sephora.com

This setting spray is a two in one primer and setting spray. You can spray it prior to applying makeup and after to set your makeup. Personally if you would like to try it I recommend using the smaller 1.16 oz for $16. This spray helps to hydrate skin and helps it look soft and flawless.

Maybelline FaceStudio Master Fix Wear Boosting Setting Spray $12.99 ulta.com

This is a light weight setting spray that helps makeup last long. What is great about it is that after spraying it does not leave the face looking sticky because it dries quickly.

L’OREAL Infallible Makeup Extender Setting Spray $16.99

If you want your makeup to last from day to night this setting spray is it. It prevents your makeup from cracking, running, fading, and smudging. It’s long pro wear helps makeup stay put without being over drying.

Music Festivity Beauty Basics

Music Festivals are approaching and you might be excited selecting unique trendy indie outfits to wear. One important factor to not forget is your beauty essentials. The key to surviving these out door festivities is wear less because its always better. With the heat , crowds, and dessert dust surrounding you makeup has to last longer than usual. I like to opt for water proof makeup products and dessert sun colors. I would suggest avoiding the heavy foundations and dramatic smokey eyes. Here are five key products that I would recommend for you to pack in your bags.

I recommend to pack a highlighting glow kit to get that sun-kissed summer glow. My personal favorite its Anastasia Beverly Hills glow kits.

As for foundation I would option Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage foundation with SPF 15. This foundation is proven to last up to 12 hours which is great while you are having fun under the sun and throughout the night.

Do not forget mascara to make eyes pop! I personally like DiorShow Blackout Waterproof mascara because it makes eyelashes appear longer and fuller due to its amazing brush, but it also is water proof to avoid raccoon eyes. Remember you don’t necessarily have to be exposed to water splash to get raccoon eyes. Dessert heat and sweat can  cause that to!

When it comes to eye-shadow I prefer packing light because who wants to haul a luggage full of eye shadow pallets that can break easily!You can not go wrong with Smashbox Full Exposure travel pallet. It has essential colors for day and night under the dessert sun and moon. Its convenient because it is small and packs well in your makeup bag.

Now if you must have a dramatic eye at night to ump your makeup look I recommend packing a waterproof eye linear. Remember everyone’s body chemistry is different and a waterproof eyeliner may work for one person might not work well for another. I suggest using what you know works best for you! My personal favorite is Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon that last up to 12 hrs.

Now as for lips wear any color you want and have fun! Just remember to wear and spf balm under to avoid dried sun burn lips.

Burt’s Bees hand treatment

If you are like me who waits a couple weeks to have time for a manicure, but wants to still maintain soft and neat looking hands I recommend to use treatments in between manicures.I personally like ” Burt’s Bees Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Creme” which is very thick and hydrating. A little bit goes a long way to soften and hydrate rough skin. This balm is great for skin that is exposed to cold temperatures, heat , dirt, and harsh detergents that can roughen skin. This balm can be used on knees,elbows, and feet.

 Another of my favorites is  “Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream” this definatly hydrates and softens rough cuticles. So go ahead and pick this baby up. Trust me you will love the lemon fresh aroma this product has.

Ohhh So Gentle Makeup Remover……

If you are looking for a gentle makeup remover I would suggest you consider trying “Remove i Makeup Remover” by Benefit Cosmetics. This makeup remover is so gentle and cleanses makeup away automatically. I like the fresh after feeling this cleanser leaves. It is not irritant and very gentle to the eye area. The way I like to use it is by shaking the bottle and pouring a bit on a cotton pad and swipe away! I learned that it’s a little tough to remove some lipsticks. This is why I recommend to always wash afterwards with a mild cleanser.This product is oil free, removes waterproof makeup, and there is no rising necessary. Pure Vitality Skin Renewing Cream

I am loving this moisturiser from Kiehl’s “Pure Vitality Skin Renewing Cream”. I love how it smells like honey! It smells so yummy you want to it lol. This moisturizer is so lightweight and hydrating. This moisturizer is known to smooth the skin surface, smooth fine lines, and strengthen the skin for youthful vitality according to kiehls.com. It is made with korean red ginseng root which is known to accelerate cell renewal. Which is known to help the skin give a vibrant glow.Another ingredient is New Zealand Manuka Honey which is known to strengthen the skin barrier to smooth any fine lines.

I have been using this moisturiser for both day and night and my skin has had improvements. Not only is the moisturiser light weight, but it is very hydrating. A little bit goes a long way to hydrate neck and face evenly. I tend to use half the amount of the size of a dime which is plenty for my skin. I warm up the moisturizer within my fingers and dab on to cheeks, forehead, and chin. I massage in circular motions until I reach my neck. If I am using this during the daytime I follow up with an spf. Since I have oily combination skin this moisturizer is not heavy at all. I feel it really hydrates my skin and leaves it silky smooth.

Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil

If you all know by know I love Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Elixer and eye cream. Well Kiehls has done it again by providing another item for my skin regime with the essential botanicals that Midnight Recovery contains. For 2017 they have launched a Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil. This botanical cleanser is so gentle to the skin that it cleanses it without clogging your skin. It can be used to gently cleans skin or just remove makeup. I learned that using just a little bit of this product goes a long way. You want to take a few drops of it and massage it between fingers to warm up. Later you want to apply it in designated area and massage on the skin to melt away your makeup. After you can wipe off with a cotton pad or rinse it off with your favorite face wash.

This botanical cleansing oil is enriched with an aromatic blend of pure botanical oils such as squalane, evening primrose oil, and lavender.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Deep Moisture Balm

If you are like many people whos skin becomes dryer once the temperature drops. I suggest you use Ultra Facial Deep Moisture Balm by Kiehl’s. This moisture balm will keep your skin hydrated during the freezing weather. It is known that when this moisuture balm was created it was tested in cold weathers to see if it was effective. The moisterizer is so gentle and comfortable to the skin. It is also very rich in creaming without the streaky olines that we find after using an over moisterizing cream. Mr Right is a soft bristle brush with a delicate wand and a cute little bow tie. This brush is perfect to be used wet or dry. What I liked about this brush is that the bristles don’t harden after wash and it does not shed. You can you this brush to set under eye concealer and create precise contour. On the 7th Day of Christmas

I actually go these for myself and I absolutely LOVE THEM! I picked up a set of the “Smashbox Light It Up Lipstick + Lip Mattifier Set”. What attracted me of this set is their hot neon package and the price! For $29 you get to pick up six deluxe lip products plus the mattifier. You get a variety of colors to try daily and the mattifier to give it a matte effect. If you know me I love lipstick and getting a variety of colors for daily use is a score. They are not the usual colors that  come in kits that no one will consider wearing. These items are a perfect holiday gift for yourself or a lipstick lover! The consistency of the lip product is very smooth and buttery. They are also not matte, but you can transform them to a matte lip product by applying a small dab of the Lip Mattifier on top of the color.The consistency of the mattifier reminds me of Smashbox Photo Finish Primer.The colors are very unique and comfortable. The great thing is that this lipstick unlike others are not limited edition colors to Smashbox. They are only limited addition to the set in the particular size. Which is awesome because I hate it when you find a color you love and somehow you come to discover that it’s not sold. If you use all your favorite colors you can simply hop online or visit your beauty counter for a full size edition .I LOVE this because I once had this lipstick I loved and looked great on me and guess what????
